PUML

PUML is a homebrewed variant of the FIST RPG. Whereas FIST is a high lethality system, PUML attempts to be less lethal allowing characters to more easily survive through a campaign.

This book mainly contains the mechanics for play and how to create characters. There is little about the theory of play or best practices. I recommend reading FIST ULTRA EDITION for more theory.

This rule set is built with my setting in mind. This is an alternative 1980s Earth where the Primeval deities influence its inhabitants. Most worship these deities and the world is divided into 6 superpowers and the Moon. The setting can be found at my Primeval Deities itch.io page.

Ultimately how you use this book is up to you. You can use it along with its setting. You can take rules and traits from it for your FIST game. You can make your own homebrew and/or setting with the PUML rules.

Contents of the 34 A4 page book include:

• 24 new player traits
• Tag team action: when 2 players act together they each roll 1D6+Attribute, sum the values, and resolve the outcome.
• Combat threat & action tracker: A new method to determine the number of actions that occur in each offense and defence phase. The number of actions dynamically changes as the threat level (1-5) changes in combat. Includes a table to determine combat action outcomes.
• Equipment durability: Good, Damaged, and Broken.
  
• Resolution at 0 HP: When a PC reaches 0HP they choose to either:
  • Become knocked-out and having to be dragged out of the mission by their teammates.
  • Perform a last stand! They get one last action to help their team and go out with a bang rather than a whisper.
• Leader actions: Each round of combat a PC can perform a leader action to shout tactics and encourage their teammates. Hopefully they don't benefit the enemies instead.
• Mission end rewards: Mission end rewards inspired by Blades in the Dark.
• New character creation rules:
  • Gain a belief giving you 4 gear packs. You can bring one gear pack into each mission.
  • Gain an ally to call upon once a mission.
  • Gain a nemesis that wants to foil all you plans
